Neon Tube/Silly Tube 12v - 10m Black

Looking for a sturdy solution to line your garden path, create walk through arches etc these neon tubes are the answer! 

This tube is the 10 metre version. We get asked a lot "how many pixels are in these?" - well the answer is a little complicated. 

There are 1200 LEDs in this 10mtr length, but they are not individually addressable - to be able to get that lovely uniform glow, there are 6 leds, in groups of 3 back to back - so we would setup up xLights to be a simple, low density 200 pixels (20 per metre). 

We do this as the tube is difficult to service - replace a led in this, you need to pull the insides out, and replace a small surface mount LED, and then rethread it through - so we opted to get more LEDs into a lower pixel count so we have a little more resilience in the design - we can take a few LED failures before the neon effect actually gets compromised - even at this density, they look awesome!!

The silicon tube is tough, very flexible. Whilst we don't recommend it, during our testing we have walked on it, jumped on it, tied it in knots and even parked a car on it (it continues to work despite having a car parked on it, but it is now a little more oval than round!). Please note that we do not recommend that the silly tube be run in lengths longer than 10mtrs, and that you always apply power to both ends of the tube to ensure colour consistency and data stability over the length of the tube - as such we add power tails only to the end of the tube, not a pigtail. There is no data wire left at the end of the 10mtr tubes - if you want to add one, you would need to modify the tube, and void any warranty. 
It should also be noted that the black tube causes a tint on the light output - so white is more pink in colour, yellow is more orange, but the purple is REALLY purple. You should take note of this when sequencing your show - if you have an all white effect, black silly tube will look "out of place" in comparison to naked LEDs - so please do not be surprised - get white tube instead.
